On the 7th of May Dalle held a twoman live at Shibuya Vuenos with the band vez. It seems like the coupling band don't really have that much incommon with Dalle, this was like a "normal" rockband, but they had quite the crowd.
Just like before the previous twoman, Atsushi was DJ:ing prior to the gig, playing some of the songs we got to hear earlier. I kind of like it, and I think he has a very interesting taste in music!
The floor on Vuenos is kind of small, so when it's packed, it's packed. I was standing close to the toilet this time, right behind Atsushi's table.
I didn't really enjoy the first band, so I acctually sat down studying on the floor, hehe. When it was finally time for Dalle I tried my best to get as close to the stage as possible infront of Közi, but as I've previously said, Közi's fans are brutal... I ended up closer than last time so I was pleased. While waiting for the gig to start, some guys passed me by to go the mens toilet, I turned around and notice one of them was Ryux from Moi Dix Mois! He seems to be good buddies with Közi.
The gig started and this time I was surprised to see how little make up Ryo was wearing! He's one of those people who I think looks kind of western when wearing make up, so it was nice seeing more of his Japanese features. Since it was such a long time ago, I can't really remember what Közi was wearing, but I have a feeling he had about the same clothes as he did at the previous live, and his hairstyle and make up was the same.
They usually play the same set list, but the last time I realised they played songs which aren't theirs, so I was eager to find out which songs it was, and to my surprise one of those was Crystal Castles Not in Love. I never was a fan of the original song but Dalle's version was awesome! I which they'd release that somehow.
At these twoman they never play an encore unfortunately. Before leaving stage Közi throw out picks, one ended up behind Atsushi's DJ table and I have to admit I first thought of heading there, but then it felt weird going behind that... I bet some other fan rushed there though, there's no rules in fandom it seems.
As always the live was really good, ICU is probably my favorite song with Dalle and it's amazing live! If you like Közi, or just wants to experience something new while in Tokyo, I highly recomend you to check them out!
Keep track of their schedule from their webpage: http://dalle.tokyo/index.html

ZIZ Salon De'tester
This was my first time attending a ZIZ oneman, and the first time I saw them live this time around in Tokyo! This live was a bit special since it was their 5th anniversary! And they also released a new mini album; Detsuromotsuro No. 5.
The gig took place at Zirco Tokyo, in Shinjuku, a kind of hidden club. It's on the basement floor of a building with sportsbars etc. My ticket number wasn't the best, so when I got into the club I just wanted to get a good spot on the floor. So unfortunately I missed my chance of getting one of their new t-shirts since they were sold out after the gig. ZIZ seems to have a lot of random items for sale, for example I saw this one girl who bought a clock! An acctual clock to put on your wall. The background was the cover of their new cd. It looked really cool, but obviosly that was gone too once I got to their sales stand.
To be honest I'm not sure I have that much to say about the gig itself. Nothing special happened, we got to hear all of their new songs from the album. Like always I really enjoy watching Közi live, he's really good despite what people might think. He doesn't "connect" that much with the audience, but it doesn't really bother me because seeing him you can tell he enjoys what he's doing and that's the most important thing to me.
I got to hear all my favorite songs, Kosmostill, Sanityman, JEEZ, CHAOSMOS, ECHOFALLS and L'AMIE L'AMIE. I haven't seen ZIZ since 2015 so I had not heard any of the songs from JEEZSO8DOVEDOPE yet, obviously I was very excited to hear JEEZ because it's one of their best songs. I really love it. I noticed Közi had some difficulties taking the high notes during the chorus, and once he didn't even sing that. I can see that it's difficult though, for a recording you can paus and cut, but at a live gig he's been singing for like an hour and I bet his vocal chords was a bit tired.

As the last song they played Super naked disco. I think I mentioned that before but hearing that on the cd for the first time I just felt like "WTF was that I just listened to". I really hated it, and I still don't like the cd version, but live it's pretty nice acctually.
When the gig was over, I picked up my bag as fast as I could and headed to the merch. But like I already said, all of the new stuff was sold out, but to excitment I found that they still sold the DVD which was released at the same time as JEEZSO8DOVEDOPE! So I picked up a copy with a very strange item they sold. A Közi tattoo seal. Yes, you can now either use it on your hand for an evening or use it and get a tattoo artist to fill it in for you! It's one of the most random items I've seen being sold at a live, and obviously I had to have it.
As can be seen above, they had a very special flower bouquet, this is something you only see in relation to something with Közi I'm sure. Amazingly creative...
So, the special thing about this live was that we'd receive a demo cd as a gift. Unfortunately I haven't been able to listen to it yet since my computer doesn't have a cdrom. I'll update once I've heard it!
Like always, if you get the chance to see Közi in any of his bands live, do it!
EDIT: When I was about to exit the club I saw Ryux from Moi Dix Mois, AGAIN (he was at the twoman Dalle live in May too). He keeps popping up at Közi's gigs...

Tokyo Death Disco #7
As a huge Közi fan I obviously follow all of his projects, including Dalle. I know many just listen just because it's Közi but I genuinl think they're great! And was I suprised, they were fucking awesome live.
I saw Hollowgram, Ryo's band, two years ago and I wasn't very impressed so when I found out he'd be the new vocalist of Dalle I wasn't overjoyed. Honestly though I've been completely turned and I think he's doing a great job as Dalle's vocalist!
This was my first time seeing them live, since they became active when I had left Japan last time. Fortunately this was a two man live so each band got quite some playtime!
The gig was held at Vuenos in Shibuya, I've been there once before to see a Közi solo gig, and I have to say it's a really nice venue with a great cocktail menu! Anyway, my ticket number was B 18, I thought about getting a ticket from Dorothy, the onlineshop selling Dalle items but I wasn't sure about my address yet and I did not want a ticket to get lost in the mail! I was one of the last to get in, not that it mattered because people usually tend to show up for their favorite band and then leave, I still haven't figuered out how they do it though! It's almost never announced and yet people know exactly when they should show up... I saw the whole first act and thought it was worth it since I'd be able to get closer to stage, BUT NO! I don't know what it is with some people, and I have to say that I think I've only seen this specific behaviour when seeing Közi and I think it's very rude. His fans show up just before the gig starts and just walks past everyone or squeeze in to get the best spot. This time, a girl even stoped me from coming closer! I was just about to step forward when she sneaks up on the side and puts out her arm so that her friend could stand infront of me! I don't want to cause any trouble, especially when not in my native language but that's just fucking rude! I've been waiting for an hour to be stopped by another guest, when the tickets are numered, we don't have a specific spot at the venue, it's first comes first. I'm so sick of it...and I think it's really nasty of them.
Like last time at Vuenos, seeing Közi :P, I got myself drunk. Normally I never order any alcohol if I'm alone but like I said Venuos has a pretty nice cocktail menu so I thought I'd try "blue moon". I usually just order whatever has a nice name, so without knowing this drink only included alcohol :P I get drunk pretty quick so just from sipping this I began feeling all tired and relaxed and before I knew it I was swinging along to the music (thinking about it now I feel embarrassed but I doubt it looked weird at the time, it's just I normally don't do that alone XD) Before any band set foot on stage, a pleasant suprise was that Atsushi, bassist from Dalle, was the DJ! He had a pretty nice playlist including Soft Ballet's songs Believe in a blue world and Flow. The band before Dalle Justy Nasty, I had never heard of but they played sort of traditional rock and they seemed pretty old so I'm guessing they've been around for a while. After about one hour it was time for Dalle! They used projections in the background and they came in one by one on stage, Közi wore the same outfit I think as from the hide memorial gig, the long black shirt and his rocking horse shoes. Ryo looked amazing! He was so pale and wore all black, smoked eyes with a little glitter. The setlist included all the singles, I was especially looking forward to ICU since it's my favorite song by Dalle and I have to say, it was fucking amazing live! The single version doesn't really sound like you can hear any electric guitar, but at the live it really noticed and it added something extra to the song. When the band took tinytiny breaks to drink (and probably to wipe themselves off) shorter songs were played and at one of those breaks they acctually played the opening songs from the horror classic Rosemary's Baby (the opening in which Mia Farrow just sings lalala). I get a sort of horror vibe from Dalle, in a classic way and not funny like The Candy Spooky Theater, and I really enjoy that! The time flew by, they were awesome and before I knew it the gig was over. People tried to call for an encore without success though. Beforehand they had announced that everyone who'd show up would receive some gifts, as you can see in the photo it was a signed postcard and a sticker. I also obviously bought the single Metaphor but since I can't rip while in Japan I haven't got the chance to listen to it (it came with cathair, no kidding XD). I also got myself the last white t-shirt in size M! On the merch table I noticed they sold signed pictures from their album released in December, ambivalence to violenta. It said it was the booklet but when the woman showed me what was incldued it was loose papers (maybe that is the booklet?) I acctually still haven't bought the album, and that is also why I can't comment on which other songs they played.
Közi was as usual kind of in his own world, meaning he doesn't really look at the audience or respond when people call him (well he responded with his guitar once). I'm really happy he's staying active and I think his solo, Dalle and ZIZ are great so please go see them if you happen to be in town (or Hong Kong I guess).

DALLE - asphalt
This is a bit late, I know, but just this friday I picked up my copy of DALLE's single asphalt! It was released at their live gig on the 25th of february and contains 2 songs, asphalt and a remix of asphalt.
The single was released in 2 different editions, with or without a DVD with the PV for the song. And this time I acctually got a sticker with my order!
The song is already out on youtube (see link below), at least almost all of it, so I'm guessing most have already heard it. I really like DALLE, I'm very suprised in a good way how they've created their own sound and I look forward to hearing what kind of turns they might take later.
I have to say though that I prefer their first single, fences, but asphalt is also really good. It's a bit slower but the chorus is great! What suprised me when I heard this for the first time was the mix of rougher and slower/softer parts, it blends really well though and acctually makes the song more interesting. The remix was ok, better than the remix of fences, but I still always prefer the original songs.
I've written down the lyrics as they are presented in the single below, and please get your won copy of the single and support the band! -> http://dorothy.buyshop.jp/

Dalle - Fences
Dalle has got together again after many years of hiatus as many of you Közi fans might have noticed.
Dalle was just a live band to begin with so it suprised me big time when they made their own youtube channel, AND even announced a single! Fences was relased at their gig on the 3rd of december. In the online store Dorothy & Co you can purchase Dalle clothing (T-shirt or a onepiece) and the single. As far as I know they only ship within Japan so you'd need a shopping service for this. When I bought this they offered packages with either a t-shirt and the single or the onepiece and the single. If buying one of those you got the shipping for free. I got the one piece and the single with DVD. (You can get the single only for1000 yen instead of 1500yen) It said in the item description that you'd get a Dalle stickers which I didn't though.
The line up is ryo (HOLLOWGRAM,TAG,KEEL), Közi (ZIZ/XA-VAT/ex.MALICE MIZER), Yugami (ZIZ), Rieu (4 A.D.), Mizuno Masaaki (MO'SOME TONEBENDER), Atsushi Hatta (DEADLIES/ex.HATE HONEY/DEEP). Unfortunately Közi is not singing. I saw Hollowgram live last year in Tokyo and I wasn't that impressed with them. Ryo's voice is good, but I prefer Közi :P
Anyway, the single contains 2 songs, Fence and then a remix by Yugami. The remix was soso but the actual song, I'm impressed. I think Dalle has made a really good job with this and I'm really looking forward to future releases. Fences is mainly rock but they have some electronics in it too which makes the music match ZIZ a bit I think. So I doubt anyone who appreciate ZIZ would be disapointed, eventhough this is a bit rougher than their 80's rockpop songs. One complaint I got is the singing. Not Ryo's vocals, but the fact the song is completly in english. I don't want to be a bitch, english is not my native language so who am I to blame others BUT, I don't release cd's singing in my awful english... I listened to Fences while reading the lyrics and I can barely hear the words.
The CD was nothing fancy, just a case with the single and the DVD. The cover is acctually just a piece of paper, and then there was another piece of paper with lyrics on. Eventhough I like a good booklet I wasn't too bothered by this, I rather get a new release with a piece of paper than no release.
The DVD contains the PV for Fences, which is the same video Dalle shared on their youtube channel (except that they cut out like 1 minute out of the video)
Lyrics for Fences:
I'm waiting for
Our hearts make noise in some days, and you fall in to dizzy.
Our hearts make some faulty days, and you fall in to misery.
Rosemary can't save you, lost you in new world.
So sorry for my "bad days"
I have to void you because you round and round in my mind.
The sand castle Disappeared
I Stay dead.
There's no reason.
#You said at that time "But if it's your dreams"
Your future of ideal has gone in truth.
Get one's wish in someday.
So let me meet you with love.
Escape from this sad realities.
from this sad realities.
We got dizzy, and disappear
We started to believe that dreams will come true in misery.
To reach out to over the fence.
But it was arose by misunderstand.
I never stop to pray.. but I can't see it.
Escape from this sad realities Because I'm waiting for you.
There's No reason.
#repeat
I can't have a lot of love,
I choose only you from those who among many.
I still stay dead.
Make your this day. Make your this day. Make your this day.
Dalle announced that a new single called Asphalt will be released on their gig on the25th of february.
Background: Dalle was created in 2008 by Közi and Atsushi Hatta but their activities has been irregular until 2015.
